TRULY FUNNY

in my opinion there is no such thing as "the funniest comic ever" because at a certain point it becomes a matter of taste. who can say that richard pryor was funnier than, say, bill cosby or sam kinison was funnier than bill hicks or buddy hackett was funnier than rodney dangerfield? but each one of those comedians reached the level of TRULY FUNNY. to our collective loss, one of the TRULY FUNNY ones, george carlin, died on sunday evening.

not only was george truly funny, he was one of the most prolific comedy writers ever. the complete body of his work is staggering not only in its volumne but in it's subject matter as well. for those of you who never got to see him work, you missed one of the true giants.

i am not nearly a good enough writer to do full justice to george carlin's genius so all i will say is; rest in peace, george, you were truly a funny motherfucker. (one of his seven words, i'm sure)

Yes, that was one of the seven words. I've listened to Carlin for years. Well, decades. He was certainly one of the best. No doubt about it. He was one of my favorites.

I'm gonna miss George. When I was on the road doing sales I would quite offen listen to George on my way back home in the afternoon.

Even after hearing his material over anf over, he still made me laugh out loud. And after having a shitty day, I loved to listen to a good rant from George.

The 7 words:
shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits.

One of my favourites:
"Pull up beside another driver and yell "PULL OVER, PULL OVER, PULL OVER" He pulls over, you keep going."

Thank you George.

If you really want to pay tribute to a master comedian like George Carlin, you might consider withdrawing your own exaggerated, personal claims of being "America's greatest storyteller" and the next "superstar of comedy" that introduce readers to your blog. Clearly, you are neither.

well, "anonymous", i didn't say those things...the press did. las vegas review journal on the storyteller and joan rivers on superstar. if you had ever been to one of my shows you would know that the only credit i ask for is tonight show with carson. my work speaks for itself. i could list dozens of comments from the press if wanted to: "funniest man ever" from reno gazette, "most hilarious side splitting, reality based humor i have ever split a gut over" toronto star. i could go on and on or i could list all of them on my site, but i don't. my web site is designed to help stir up business..but not yours. (your business, that is...yours i can do without.)

so, in the words of the late great george carlin...fuck off.
