listen to the lion

interesting article by john dunbar of the associated press in las vegas paper today about credit swaps being more and more blamed for the collapse of aig, the bankruptcy of investment bank, lehman brothers and the downfall of other investment houses and financial institutions.

these are the ones that phil graham (you know, john mc cain's financial advisor...the one that said this recession was a "mental recession." also said, that we are a nation of "whiners") managed to pass a bill under the name of, are you ready?, REFORM (you know, one of john mc cain's reforms that he is so proud of, that he can just shit) so that the sec and the commodity futures trading commission have NO OVERSIGHT on these unfunded quaisi insurance deals. oh well, phil is a democrat. no wait! he's a republican. see, we all know that this whole mess is the democrats fault and they managed to do it all in the time from january of 07 till now...oh, dose sneaky democrats.

but anyway. hitting republicans now is like kicking a guy when he is down. they were more fun when they had both houses of congress and bush and cheney were out there saying things such as, "if you are not for us then you are against us." and who could forget the great speech gwb gave right after 9-11 when he told us to "go shopping." ah, those were the days.

pet goats of the world, arise! (and get george out of his stupor)

but now, ah gee. no fun. mc cain and palin are the joke unto themselves. dinosaurs and troopergate, bomb-bomb-bomb and just where is that old ahgani/iraqi border anyway?

the rest of the world watches these two and just laughs and laughs.

i am so ready to go back to work and get away from politics for a while...short of a terrorist attack, an assassination of obama or massive voter fraud this race is over. the people have looked at both and have made up their minds.

at a palin rally somebody in the audiece shouted out "kill him" as she talked about obama. did she rebuke him? did she show any outrage? (see second possibility above)

(it could have been at a mc cain rally....which would be even worse.) is this what the republicans have sunk to? this low? this sleezy? this UNAMERICAN??????????)

i need to go back to work and will starting next week in houston and then off to chattanooga and then off to reno and then off to san antonio. oh man, i am so looking forward to this run. for real. i am going to have a great time.

two of my friends, john and mike who own the club in hilton head will be partying friday night with edgar and johnny winter after the winter show and after theirs. too cool.

i am ready to listen to the lion inside of me. (that's a van morrison reference)

peace to us all.

It sounds like you are refering to The Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 signed into law by Bill Clinton in December of 2000.
By the way do you see much of the Dallas Cowboys team now that they moved to Nevada to vote?

i think you are right. also at that time the republicans held the majority in both houses of congress so a veto of the bill would have been overturned.

having said that, let me say also i was no big fan of clinton..he was on my shit list as soon as he signed nafta after campaigning against it. he did some good things but he was a member of the all emcompassing "war party" that has a strangle hold on our government.

Here is what is amazing to me.

Obama clearly has ties to the terrorist William Ayers. It is undeniable. He served on two boards with the man for years. He launched his political career in Ayers' home. Yet Obama denies it. The liberals don't care and call George Bush the terrorist.

Obama is marinated in the group ACORN who is under investigation in a dozen states for voter fraud. This is a group that pushed hard to give loans to those who couldn't afford it under the guise that if they didn't give the loans it was because it was discrimination. Obama is a key player in ACORN The group is dirty and Obama is in the middle of it. The liberals don't care.

Chris Dodd and Obama were two of the largest recipients of donations from Fannie and Freddie, the two organization that had a lot to do with the credit crisis we are now in. The liberals don't care.

Socialists like Ron Shock praise the likes of Obama and the people he associates himself with.

William Ayers bombs the U.S Capitol and the Pentagon and left wing nut jobs like Mayor Richard Daly call Ayers 'a valued citizen' and the liberals call Bush the terrorist, and Obama crawls under the wing of Ayers and could not care less that Ayers is an American terrorist. And the liberals just don't care.

Americans you are not.

Futures act 2000
The way I read it is that these newer instruments could be traded over the counter and without regulation provided participants met with financial strength criteria. Main point that these folks were not the average punter. Catch is the criteria was not high enough and those involved turned out to be cry babies in the end.
There is plenty of money out there, bankers are just "on strike". They do not trust each other. Quite frankly I am getting tired of coddeling these cry babies. In a perfect world world wide best minds could be drawn together and an alternative financing system drawn up funded by the enormous sums going to the bankers, and then we just let bankers decide if they want to quit holding their breath and do what they are supposed to do or watch their roll in the world diminish. Simplistic I know, but this "crisis of confidence" is starting to wear thin on me.
