I've never understood why so many people seem to believe "whatever it takes to fight America's enemies", even when the "whatever" is dismantling piece by piece what makes America what it is. When something evil happens, people insist "something must be done" and something stupid, useless or even counterproductive is better to them than "heartlessly doing nothing".
